Ed. Note: Love this article. It’s what we’ve been saying for years. First, the term marijuana is indeed a racial epithet. It should never ever be used, even though it’s currently the common usage. Second, the term ‘rec’ or ‘recreational’ is a horrid term. We never use the term recreational for alcohol. We believe that as cannabis becomes more normalized, there will be a diminishing of the word marijuana (or for some reason, marihuana in Michigan) and eventually the word will disappear from the English language.
